Summary

My name is Eldin Fajkovic, and I am an architect who believes that the built environment profoundly impacts our emotions, thoughts, and ideas on a daily basis. We interact with it in various ways, from wandering through its spaces to sleeping, eating, and reflecting within it. Architecture tells a story that inspires us, especially as we confront the numerous challenges of the 21st century. In this era, it is crucial to shift our relationship with the environment, viewing it not merely as a structure but as an ecosystem—a dynamic and ever-changing entity. My journey revolves around pushing the boundaries of the built environment, embracing the concept of temporariness.

Recognizing that nothing lasts forever, we must think beyond our own lifetimes. Buildings, as temporary assemblies, should be constructed accordingly: demountable, bio-based, and circular. They ought to inspire users, visitors, and admirers alike with the idea of transience. Instead of forever concrete until dust, we should envision temporary assemblies until they are re-mounted or repurposed.

I completed my MSc. degree at the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment in 2016, specializing in Computation & Performance within the chair of Hyperbody, which focuses on non-standard and interactive architecture. In 2020, I earned my official title as an Architect and registered with the Architects' Registration Bureau under the registration number 1.210112.002.

As an architect, I possess three prominent passions: sustainability, circular design, and the parametric design process. I am particularly drawn to digital-driven and algorithmic design, interactive environments, and digital fabrication. These interests fuel my commitment to developing innovative solutions that merge technology and architecture.

After completing my studies, I joined Sustainer Homes, a forward-thinking startup dedicated to radically reducing the CO2 footprint of the building industry through CNC-fabricated wooden modular architecture. My focus at Sustainer Homes was on designing sustainable modular building systems and exploring the potential for parametrizing the design workflow to facilitate mass customization, robotic production, and automation in the architectural design process.

During my tenure at Sustainer Homes, I spearheaded the development and architectural design of the revolutionary Box-in-Box system. This concept garnered success through several noteworthy projects, ultimately leading to the establishment of a dedicated company called Respace. Within Respace, I continually strive to push the boundaries of circular design, parametric design methods, and CNC-milled architecture.

Join me on this transformative journey as we redefine the role of architecture in an ever-evolving world. Together, we can create sustainable, adaptable, and inspiring spaces that resonate with the essence of our temporariness.
